Hello, my name is AUSONIA, and before being a winery and even before being a wine, I am a butterfly, but not just any butterfly... I am a native lepidopterist, in the sense that I live here and only here since always... in this land, in this wonderful strip of Abruzzo, fascinated by the characteristic climate and by the people who of this place have decided to enhance its identity and its belonging. This is exactly how the Ausonia winery was born, with this spirit, by the work and passion of Simone and his wife Francesca, a pharmacist and a mechanical engineer respectively, who, starting in 2008, decided to share the same dream and the same call, to produce a wine that was not only good, but that manifested in its taste its own specific identity.

Simone, having graduated from the Faculty of Viticulture and Oenology in Florence and assisted by Francesca, began his journey as a winemaker, a particular path enriched with reflections, insights and studies, which will soon mature in them the idea of moving away from the production of conventional wines. The care and attention of Simone and Francesca and the strong desire to produce a wine of superior quality and personality, makes the couple grow the dream of producing a wine that would be an authentic expression of the territory, that would present a strong identity, an imprint of original taste: a natural, living wine, an expression of a defined territory, the Abruzzi one, and with a strong and decisive character like that of its people. Therefore, in 2013, after starting the procedure for organic certification, the Ausonia winery embraces and concretizes the desire and mission to convert organic production into something even more natural, even more valuable: biodynamic viticulture, also favored by the excellent geographical positioning.
