Eleonora Costa and Luigi Armanino

Alfiano Natta (Alessandria) - Piedmont

One of those projects that leaves you wanting more. Crealto is the brainchild of Eleonora Costa and Luigi Armanino, who left their hometown of Genoa behind in 2008 and started afresh in the small village of Alfiano Natta in Monferrato Casalese.

They now own just under six vineyards, which they cultivate with enthusiasm and sustainability. Several principles shape their viticultural identity: firstly, and of course most importantly, organic farming. Secondly, the attempt to recount their terroir through grape varieties that have always been associated with Monferrato Casale: in addition to the Piedmontese classics Nebbiolo and Barbera, there is also Grignolino (from which Crealto presses an excellent wine) and, more recently, the rare but equally high-quality Baratacuiat. These principles are embedded in a concept that focuses entirely on hospitality, which manifests itself in a small but fine restaurant (with ingredients from their own garden or the surrounding area) and a few rooms.

About half a dozen wines are bottled, which are pressed without the use of additives and in the best traditional manner, aged in different containers depending on the type of wine – from steel to wood to amphorae.
