Damiano Ciolli
Olevano Romano (Roma) - Lazio
Damiano Ciolli is a wine producer based in the municipality of Olevano Romano, in the province of Rome, in the Lazio region. The Impeto diVino wine guide reviews all the most important producers in the province of Rome, including Damiano Ciolli.
After a long period spanning four generations in which his family dedicated themselves to vinifying their own grapes, in 2001 Damiano Ciolli embarked on a new path characterized by a different and more conscious approach to the territory and the Cesanese grape variety, which in Olevano Romano, where the winery is located, has often had a conflictual and ambiguous relationship. Thanks to extensive experimentation, Damiano Ciolli has succeeded in creating two different expressions of this variety, strictly trained as alberello vines, partly on a south-facing hill of volcanic origin.
Damiano's skills have ensured that his selections have always stood out for their fullness of extract and savoriness and, in the best vintages, the classic roughness of the tannins has been well balanced by a fresh and “crunchy” fruity component.
In this context, it is easy to understand the importance that Damiano Ciolli has had in the revival of both the Cesanese grape variety and viticulture in Lazio, understood as a true love for the territory of Olevano Romano. Damiano Ciolli and his entire family of winegrowers know how to fully convey the joy of their life choice, sharing its pleasures without hiding the difficulties.
This winery does not produce many labels, nor does it produce pretentious or non-local wines. Here, in the vineyards of the Ciolli winery, you can grasp the essence of those who give their utmost commitment and respect to the land and the vines.
The Damiano Ciolli winery is one of the most important wine producers in the province of Rome. These areas have historically been suited to viticulture, and the numerous awards won by farms in the province of Rome have further encouraged producers to invest in the territory to make the most of its productive potential, constantly improve quality, and tackle new markets. Damiano Ciolli wines are characterized by medium alcohol content and good fixed acidity, which helps to enhance their aromas and maintain them over time.
