Tenuta Segattini: Where local grape varieties meet sustainable cultivation
The Tenuta Segattini winery, located in Pastrengo, near Lake Garda, is dedicated to reviving family traditions and organic viticulture. With a focus on natural winemaking and the production of regional wine varieties, Tenuta Segattini stands for quality and authenticity. Its wines are not only an expression of regional tradition, but also of the innovative approaches the winery pursues to produce wines of the highest quality and unique character.
The Tenuta Segattini winery reflects a rich family history dating back over 300 years. In 2016, Luca Segattini took over the management of the family winery, which was officially founded by his grandfather. The two vineyards have been owned by the family since the 18th century.
Tenuta Segattini not only cultivates grapevines, but also grows other plants such as yarrow to create a diverse ecosystem. Luca Segattini describes his wines as an expression of freshness, dynamism, flavor, and spontaneity.
The Tenuta Segattini winery follows a philosophy deeply rooted in tradition and respect for nature, which is reflected in the careful cultivation of the vineyards and natural winemaking. The estate mainly cultivates indigenous grape varieties such as Rondinella, Corvina, Corvinone, and Molinara, complemented by the international Cabernet Sauvignon variety. This selection represents the rich diversity and heritage of the region, with each variety carefully matched to the specific characteristics of the soil.
The work in the vineyard at Tenuta Segattini is characterized by meticulousness and sustainability. The vineyards, divided into different plots at altitudes ranging from 165 to 200 meters, offer different soil structures, ranging from calcareous clay to soft, fertile soils.
In the cellar, the winery relies on natural processes such as spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts and, when necessary, homeopathic additions of sulfur dioxide. These methods help to preserve the authenticity and freshness of the wines and reflect the philosophy of Tenuta Segattini, which is expressed in outstanding wines such as Profilo Rosato and Profilo Rosso.
